So we looked for buildings that already had a history. Old trading houses in Hamburg, former hotels and guesthouses in the Alps, Wilhelminian-style buildings or harbour buildings. Buildings that had grown weary, but hadn’t lost any of their character. We’ve restored them, not just renovated them. Refurbished the furniture, not simply replaced it. Preserved the building’s style and thoughtfully developed it further. And then we opened our doors.
