Kitzbühel in winter needs no explanation. But anyone who has been here knows: it's more than just skiing. It's a feeling that you won't get rid of any time soon.

Skiing in Kitzbühel.

Kitzbühel is a paradise for skiers, making every winter holiday an unforgettable experience with its impressive pistes and the legendary Streif. The variety of slopes, combined with the picturesque Alpine landscape, offers perfect conditions for beginners and pros alike. Here you can experience skiing in its most beautiful form: in the footsteps of the great champions.

91 pistes. 179 km. Five minutes from the HENRI.

KitzSki is one of the largest ski areas in the Alps. From the HENRI, it's just five minutes to the Hahnenkamm cable car. Everything awaits at the top: wide carving slopes, narrow forest tracks, mountain huts on every second summit. And the Streif. Anyone who has skied it once will talk about it. Those who don't ski it, watch it and still understand why Kitzbühel is Kitzbühel."

Hahnenkamm: Every January. The biggest weekend of the year.

The Streif becomes the fastest and most dangerous downhill run in the world, the town fills up with people from all over the world and the atmosphere is one that you won't find anywhere else. Grandstands, torches, music and then the race itself. Once you've experienced the Hahnenkamm weekend, you'll be back. Every year.

After the last turn: après-ski.

Kitzbühel invented après-ski - at least that's how it feels. From the Seidlalm directly on the Streif to the alleyways of the old town: the transition from the mountain to the evening is smooth, loud and usually very good. If you start early, you end late. This is not a warning: just a hint.

Kitzbühel in winter has a full calendar.

Polo players on the snow, torches on the Schwarzsee lake, music on the mountain - Kitzbühel is more than just a ski resort in winter. The Snow Polo World Cup in January is one of only two tournaments in the world. Vertical Up turns the Hahnenkamm race on its head: up the Streif instead of down. And the Sound Escape Festival in March turns the end of the season into a party. Those who know the event calendar plan their holidays differently.

The other side of winter. Winter hiking and snowshoeing.

Not every day has to be spent on the piste. Kitzbühel has over 50 kilometres of cleared winter hiking trails - through forests, past alpine huts, with panoramic views without ski goggles. For those who want more: snowshoe tours on the Hahnenkamm or the Kitzbüheler Horn, guided or on your own. Silence, snow, mountain air. The best alternative to the hustle and bustle on the slopes - and often the most unforgettable day.

We know the quiet slopes and the noisy huts. And we'll be happy to tell you where both are best.
